These are select images from my feature documentary 'We Live Outside' which is currently in post-production. In late 2015 I met Ted Landreth, then the founder and president of the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition. The organization was facing opposition from both politicians and developers to dissolve their street feeding program. Nevertheless, he and his band of volunteers preserved, feeding up to 200 people on any given night.
When I began filming, the hope was to create a small, contained short doc on a fringe group of volunteers. What I uncovered was a world that is mostly ignored: Homelessness in Los Angeles. Currently, there are 55,000+ living on the streets in LA County and this film has expanded to documenting homelessness as a whole. My hopes are high for this film as we are attempting to shed light on a growing problem that's right in front of us, we as a society just fail to recognize it.
PS: Thank you to the film's intrepid producer Enrique Rivera, James Wasserman for capturing the sounds of the city and Adriel Gonzalez, who's talented eye has aligned with my vision in bringing these individuals' stories to the forefront.
